As educators of tomorrow's leaders we must "Change or Die". The 2012
Principals’ Conference will give you ideas and some of the tools you'll need.
After reviewing the 2011
conference evaluations we've renewed our commitment to strengthen leadership in
our schools. This year’s conference
will offer our school leaders opportunities to learn from speakers and
presenters who are renowned and respected educational leaders and connect with
educators who are facing similar challenges.
Date and Venue
JISA is pleased to partner once
again with the Ministry of Education to stage the conference to be held at the
Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort & Spa, in Ocho Rios, St. Ann from
Wednesday, April 25 to Friday, April 27,
2012. The Conference
Registration fee for JISA Member Schools’ participants is J$12,000.
The fee for non JISA Member Schools’ participants is J$18,500 or US $215
Accommodation
You will note that the fees for
accommodation have not been increased for this year.
Room rates should be calculated using an exchange rate of US$1 = J$87.
The rate of exchange is subject to change without prior notice.
-Single occupancy
US$ 190.00 per night (all inclusive)
-Double occupancy
US$135 per person per
night (all inclusive)
-Triple occupancy
US$115 per person per
night (all inclusive)
-Conference pass*
US$60.00 per person
(includes coffee break & lunch only)
*Conference passes must be
obtained directly from the front desk.
Kindly note that Triple Rooms
have only 2 double beds and persons who select this option, must register all
three names together. Also, if you do not specify the name (s) of your roommate
(s) on your registration form, then you will be randomly assigned at check-in.
The rooming list will be
confirmed with the hotel once the 2nd deposit is made.
No refunds will be granted
after this period as JISA will be liable if there are any last minute
cancellations.
Please note that the first payment must
be made by January 16, 2012 in order to secure a room at the above rates.
Payment
Payments must be made to the
hotel on a schedule and therefore we need to adhere to the following deadlines:
January 16, 2012

1st deposit of 50%
February 16, 2012
-
2nd deposit of 25%
March 16, 2012
-
Final payment of 25% of room fee+ Registration Fee
Cheques should be made payable
to the “Jamaica Independent Schools’ Association”.
Payments may also be made directly to the JISA
NCB Half-Way-Tree account #302741522.
A copy of the receipt and the registration form should then be faxed to the JISA
office at 978-0705 to show evidence of payment. When making payments, kindly use
US$87.00 as the rate of exchange. Payments submitted after January 16 may be
subject to a foreign exchange rate adjustment.
Registration
Please indicate your interest in
attending the conference by completing and returning the attached form, along
with the 1st deposit, to the JISA office by
Monday, January 16, 2012. You may
also download a Conference Registration Form from the JISA website at
www.jisajm.com.
Ground Transportation
The
Committee is recommending that persons, utilize the reliable services of the
Knutsford Express from Kingston and
from Montego Bay. Telephone number
- 960-5499. The schedule for Monday
to Friday is as follows:

Departs Montego Bay to Ocho Rios: 5:00 a.m. / 9:00 a.m. / 1:00 p.m / 5:00 p.m.

Departs New Kingston to Ocho Rios: 6:00 a.m. / 9:30 a.m / 2:00 p.m. / 5:00 p.m.
·
Departs Ocho Rios to New Kingston: 6:20 a.m. / 10:25 a.m. / 2:30 p.m / 6:30p.m.
·
Departs Ocho Rios to Montego Bay: 7:45 a.m / 11:20 a.m / 3:45 p.m. / 6:40 p.m.
The cost to ride round
trip on the Knutsford Express is $2400.00 per person.
Payment may be made on the day of travel or in advance.
Reservations must be made one day before travelling.
Further
information, regarding the conference, including an outline of the programme,
will be sent to you once all the speakers have been confirmed.
The
2012 JISA Principals’ Conference will offer strategies that build leadership
capacity, enhance school culture and improve student performance.
